THE IRISH PLAYBOOK
The small print is the big picture.
A practical guide to reading casino and sportsbook bonus terms.
Start with eligibility
A promotion may be restricted by country, age, account history, payment method or verification status. An offer advertised on a British page is not automatically available to an Irish customer. Use the Irish version of the operator’s site and read the terms attached to the specific promotion.
Understand what you receive
Cash, bonus credit, free bets and free spins are different products. Bonus balances may be restricted until conditions are satisfied. Some free bets return only winnings, excluding the original promotional stake. Check how the operator describes the reward rather than assuming it behaves like a cash deposit.
Read the qualifying rules
Sportsbook offers can specify minimum odds, eligible markets, bet types and settlement deadlines. Voided, cashed-out or partially settled bets may be treated differently. Casino offers may limit eligible games, maximum stakes and contribution percentages. The specific terms control these details.
Calculate the wagering requirement
A requirement expressed as a multiple needs a clear base. For example, 30 times a €10 bonus means €300 in qualifying wagers if the condition applies only to the bonus. If it applies to both deposit and bonus, the amount is different. This is an explanation of the calculation, not an advertised offer or a suggestion to complete it.
Check expiry and withdrawal conditions
Look for separate deadlines to opt in, deposit, place a qualifying bet and use the reward. Read any maximum withdrawal, excluded payment method and verification conditions before depositing. Keep a copy of the terms that applied when you accepted the promotion.
A bonus is not income
Meeting conditions can require repeated gambling and can result in losses. Do not spend more than you planned to unlock a reward. Choosing not to take a promotion is always an option.
